Braun logo evolution

The original Braun wordmark was designed by Will Münch in 1934.

This reversed option (below) came about in 1939.

“Wolfgang Schmittel joined the Braun design department as a freelancer in August of 1952. Upon his arrival, he revised the Braun logo and also gave it a reduced, constructively comprehensible form.”
— SIGHT UNSEEN

As we see it today.

FIFA last night unveiled its official emblem for the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil in Johannesburg. The logo, which you can glimpse in the new Coca-Cola Brazil ad above, was unveiled in the presence of Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva; President of the Brazil 2014 Organising Committee and FIFA Executive Committee member Ricardo Teixeira; FIFA President Joseph S. Blatter; and former Seleção players Cafu, Carlos Alberto Torres, Romario and 1994 FIFA World Cup-winning coach Carlos Alberto Parreira. The logo’s colors represent FIFA’s first green World Cup.

Letterboard

Letterboard turns your iPad or iPhone into a sign-board. It lets you create signs in the style seen in airports and convention centers everywhere. Oh, what fun can be had with this?!

ABChairs by Roeland Otten

Graphic designer Roeland Otten (who has a killer website btw) had an idea back when he was in school at Design Academy Eindhoven: to make communicative seating. Almost 10 years later, he’s finally fulfilled this dream with help from Fonds BKVB and Materiaalfonds. This prototype alphabet of chairs and stools consists of all 26 letters made from lacquered MDF. Right now, they’re being produced one-off as limited editions, but we hope he’ll find a manufacturer soon to make plastic versions.

Code Font

It’s been a while since we last talked about a typographic font for it’s aesthetic. The Peter Kay article was most importantly about the originality of Peter’s work. Today we’re presenting a font named Code, and made by FontFabric. Author of amazings fonts, the author of those, is from Bulgaria. You can download it here.
