9 Quick Tips For Better iPhoneography

9 Quick Tips For Better iPhoneography design

After sitting in on the photography session at Macworld, we’re even more committed to following through on our New Year’s resolution to take better photos.

This includes iPhoneography. If you’ve become obsessed with capturing images on your mobile phone, here are 9 quick tips to maximize your shooting style, efficiency, and effectiveness.

  1. Discover your go-to shooting app and keep it within thumb reach on your home screen.
  2. Get comfortable shooting with one hand.
  3. Play with lighting and exposure effects by tapping on different areas of the screen.
  4. If the image is well composed, don’t delete it! You can work wonders with apps!
  5. Capture different patterns and textures and consider using them as layers in various apps.
  6. Few apps meet all your creative needs. Use multiple apps to create your own personal style.
  7. Back up your photos often and keep your apps up to date!
  8. Go to “Settings” to adjust photo app settings for maximum image quality on capture and save.
  9. Keep a charger or battery pack handy. Taking photos and editing in multiple apps is taxing on the battery.

Macworld 2012: iPro Lens System Turns iPhone Into a Pro-Grade Camera

Macworld 2012: iPro Lens System Turns iPhone Into a Pro Grade Camera design

At this year’s Macworld event, Schneider Optics showed off the iPro Lens System. The package includes professional-quality fisheye and wide-angle lenses, a clever protective cover and a case that doubles as a tripod mount or a convenient handle.

The fisheye lens captures a 165-degree field of view, while the wide-angle lens provides 35% more coverage of the area in front of you. The lenses are attached by twisting them on and off of the specially engineered cover. The lens case acts as a tripod adapter or can be used as a handle which also twists onto the iPhone’s cover.

The entire three-piece system costs $199 and is compatible with the iPhone 4 and 4S. It is available today at the company’s website.

Schneider Optics also announced the upcoming launch of their new iPro Tele Lens, another option for turning your iPhone into a professional photography gadget. The Tele Lens is a 2X telephoto that narrows the iPhone’s field of view by 50%, zooming in on images without the loss of quality that occurs with a digital zoom.

The iPro Tele Lens will be available in April. It can be purchased with the iPro Lens System or it can be bought separately for approximately $100.

Check out the video of the AppAdvice team getting a first-hand look at the iPro system:

NASA’s New Satellite Captures Amazing Hi-Res Image of Earth

NASA’s New Satellite Captures Amazing Hi Res Image of Earth design

You’ve seen Earth, but you’ve never seen it like this.

Suomi NPP, NASA’s newest Earth-watching satellite, has taken a high resolution image of Earth, one of the most beautiful such images ever created. It’s available in 8000×8000 pixel resolution, and it takes a while to download, but it’s definitely worth it.

The satellite, named after the “father of satellite meteorology,” Verner E. Suomi, is designed to create fabulous images of Earth, monitor for natural disasters and improve weather forecasts as well as our understanding of long-term climate changes.

The image is a composite, created using a number of swaths of the Earth’s surface taken on Jan. 4, 2012. It echoes the legendary “Blue Marble” photograph, taken by the crew of the Apollo 17 spacecraft on Dec, 7, 1972.

The Blue Marble 2012, as NASA named the new photo, is available in high resolution here.

Now, where do we sign up for a 8000×8000 pixel screen so we can use this baby as a desktop background?
