Fully Equipped Residence Built in Mountainside

Fully Equipped Residence Built in Mountainside design

Seeing that the home is built into a slanted hillside, the only way to gain access is the nearby wooden Graubünder shed, which connects to a tunnel running right through the mountainside. Check out more photos of the Villa Vals Mountainside Residence here!

Breathtaking 5 Star Deluxe W Retreat and Spa in Maldives

Breathtaking 5 Star Deluxe W Retreat and Spa in Maldives design

Maldives is the quintessential paradise vacation destination. One of our personal favorites is the breathtaking W Retreat and Spa on Fesdu Island, Maldives.

As with the most of the resorts on these islands, the entire retreat is made up of water bungalows and villas that allow for stunning panoramic ocean views. The villas are also equipped with clear glass floor panels to remind you that you’re in paradise at all times.

Jamie’s Italian in Birmingham by Blacksheep

Jamies Italian in Birmingham by Blacksheep design

Check out this great restaurant – ‘Jamie’s Italian’ is a collection of site-specific Italian restaurants by British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver, located in major towns and cities around the UK. Blacksheep created a new outlet for ‘Jamie’s Italian’ at the Bullring in Birmingham, combining new design thinking and material treatments relevant to the site with elements generic to the brand. The project design language was informed by the heritage of Birmingham as an industrial powerhouse and its history of specialist workshops and engineering factories. The space was conceptualised as a bold, vertically-planned composition, with the insertion of a new freestanding mezzanine structure based upon elevated site offices.

Captivating Glass House in South Africa

Captivating Glass House in South Africa design

Residing in South Africa are some of the most extraordinary homes in the world. The area’s inhabitants have a fascination for contemporary design, utilising plenty of large glass windows found all over the home’s facade.

This is exactly what you get with the Nico Van Der Meulen Architects designed Glass House located in Johannesburg, South Africa. This massive home spans nearly 27,000 square feet providing not only enough space for a single family, but perhaps the entire family tree.

According to Nico Van Der Meulen Architects , “the shape on the south side is a half circle, forming a horseshoe on the north side. The porte cochere is a suspended glass and stainless steel structure, with view into the house and a stainless steel and glass staircase, suspended over a heated pond, (which in summer acts as a temperature stabilizer, and in winter as a giant heater) with a circular, raised glass water feature in the background, framed by a beam two storeys high”.
