The Making of The Fiberglass Chair

Watch as the original craftsman makes Eames Shell Chairs recreating the same process they used half a century ago. Film shot at Century Plastics. Using authentic material, a nearly lost art form is revived.

The “Hug Chair” by Gabriella Asztalos

The “Hug Chair” by Gabriella Asztalos design

Beautiful furniture design by Gabriella Asztalos. The “Hug Chair” is handcrafted and available in two editions – The Classic and the Contemporary. The Classic edition features an elegant Walnut Wood outer layer and the Contemporary is constructed using fibreglass, available in black and white.

“A unique uni-body circular structure connects both seats together allowing two people to sit face-to-face and thus creating an immediate intimate interaction.Through this physical connection, you feel socially and emotionally connected with the person sitting on the opposite side. The upper ‘half-pipe’ which bends above the heads creates a highway of thoughts and a chain of emotions. In this way you are interconnected within the same circle and the focus is always on the other person, exactly what a hug is about.”

Klassiker Chair by Minwoo Lee

Klassiker Chair by Minwoo Lee design

Klassiker Chair is the first lounge chair designed by South Korean designer Minwoo Lee. Its low lounge base is reminiscent of the Eames LCW, but the high back makes it a bit more formal.

My Reading Chair by Arunas Sukarevicius

My Reading Chair by Arunas Sukarevicius design

Arunas Sukarevicius, part of Etc. Etc., who brought us My Reading Desk, has created My Reading Chair, an armchair composed of two parts: a frame and its slipcover.

The slipcover has pockets that can be used for keeping anything from a remote control or book to smaller more personal items. You can even stick your hands in there to keep them warm. Different fabrics could be used for the slipcover, creating a completely different effect for each chair made.
