O’d Design

Fede Alvarez

A producer from Uruguay who uploaded a short film to YouTube in November 2009 has been offered a $30m (£18.6m) contract to make a Hollywood film. This clip is 4 mins 48 seconds long and was made on a budget of $300 (£186). So far it has had more than 1.5 million views on YouTube. Fede Alvarez – “I uploaded (Panic Attack!) on a Thursday and on Monday my inbox was totally full of e-mails from Hollywood studios,”

Arne Jacobsen’s classic Cylinda bar set is getting a sleek makeover via British fashion icon, Paul Smith. The limited edition “Statement” line covers the steel pieces in a black titanium finish with engraved statements from Paul Smith himself which reveals the stainless steel layer. More at Stelton.

Anthony Burrill

I attended a long lunch talk this evening by Anthony Burrill and got inspiration from his simple approach to ideas. For example, he told us that this ‘work hard’ poster was simply taken from a conversation he had overheard when this cashier girl told the customer that the secret to happiness in life is to work hard and be nice to people. Burrill then paired this phrase with his love of screen printing and woodblock type to produce the posters.
